Barton elected as AIA Fellow
John Barton, director of the Architectural Design Program and a lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Stanford School of Engineering, has been elected as Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the professional association has announced. Barton was recognized specifically for “Service to Society.”
The AIA fellowship program was developed to elevate architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to Fellowship recognizes not only individual achievement, but also significant contributions to the profession and to society.
In 2013, the Jury of Fellows from the American Institute of Architects elevated 122 AIA members to the prestigious College of Fellows. Just 3,000 of AIA’s more than80,000 members are so distinguished. Barton and the other 2013 Fellows will be honored at an investiture ceremony at the 2013 National AIA Convention.
